FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you do in case of inclement weather?

Our boat features a canopy that covers the bar area and we pedal rain or shine. In the event of dangerous weather such as high winds or severe thunderstorms the captain will cancel the cruise and you will receive a refund, or rain check.

We always consider the weather for all of our cruises and will do our best to cancel your cruise at least an hour before your cruise time if we think the weather is going to make for a less than desirable cruising experience.

Only our captain makes the decision to cancel. If you decide to cancel your cruise because of weather concerns, you are subject to our cancellation policy.

We will grant a prorated voucher if your cruise is cut short due to the weather.

Is the cruise BYO?

Yes, but please be sure to use your best judgement and drink responsibly! We recommend bringing 3 beers/seltzers per person, or 1 bottle of wine per couple to share.

Public cruises are limited to anything you can buy in a grocery store. RTD cocktails are allowed for public cruises. Private cruises can also include items bought at an ABC store, and/or premixed drinks from home.

The Captain retains the right to refuse service to anyone if they are determined to be overly intoxicated when they show up, or to cancel the entire cruise if they become overly intoxicated or unruly at any time during a cruise.

Please drink responsibly!

May I tip the Captain and crew?

Yes! Gratuity is not included in the price of your cruise. If the Captain and Crew added to your boating pleasure, please feel free to show them your appreciation with a tip.

Why does my selected cruise time say, "Call or email to Book" or "RESERVED"?

Please don't hesitate to give us a call or send us an email to: info@cbpedalclub.com

If you are trying to book a private cruise and your selected time slot says "call or email to book", check to see if public seats have been purchased for that time. If more than 12 seats are still available for that public time slot we may still be able to schedule your private cruise.

If you are trying to book a public cruise and your selected time slot says "RESERVED", that usually means a private cruise has been booked for that time slot or that cruise time is not available.

Private cruises have priority.

What is the public cruise minimum?

Our minimum price point is 8 seats to honor a public cruise. If you want to guarantee your reserved time slot for a public cruise, please purchase 8 seats regardless of the size of your party. If we are able to fill your cruise with additional guests, we can refund the extra seats you purchased.

Private cruises have priority over public cruises that have not met the minimum.

Why can't I select less than 8 seats on the Public Cruise time that I want?

If you are unable to book less than 8 for your selected date, that means there's still space available on an already scheduled public cruise on that day.

If you have more than the number of remainig available seats, send us an email or give us a call and we can open up a new public time slot.

We prefer to fill already scheduled public cruises before opening up a new public cruise for that same day, but we will make exceptions.

Should I book a Public or Private cruise for my party?

If you have more than 10 people and you are celebrating a special occasion, it is highly encouraged for you to book a Private cruise.

Do I have to be a member of your club?

No, everyone is a member of this club! Join us for a cruise.

How much does it cost?

Pricing currently starts at $50 per person for a public cruise, or the entire boat can be rented out for $700 for up to 20 guests. Prices do not include taxes, fees, or gratuity. Please tip your Captain and Crew accordingly.

What times are available?

We offer brunch cruises starting at 11am, Daytime cruises, Happy Hour cruises in the evening, and Sunset/ Night cruises. Pleae check the calendars on our cruises page to see real time availability.

What is your cancellation policy?

Public Cruises: Cancellations made greater than 24 hours will receive a refund; less than 24 hours will receive a voucher code to be used on any available future cruise.

Private Cruises: Cancellations made greater than 5 days will receive a refund; less than 5 days will receive a voucher code to be used on any available future cruise.

WEATHER: If the weather looks to make for a less than desirable cruising experience, we will cancel your cruise up to an hour before your scheduled departure time and issue a refund, gift card (rain check), or reschedule your cruise. Only us, or our captain makes the decision to cancel due to weather. If you decide to cancel your cruise because of weather concerns, you are subject to our cancellation policy above.

What should I bring?

Drinks: Bring your favorite beverages. We reccomend 3 beers or selzers/RTD cocktails per person or a bottle of wine or champagne per couple to share. Hard liquor or self pre-mixed drinks/shots are not permitted on public cruises! Coolers with ice will be provided.

Music: Pick a designated DJ! We have a Bluetooth sound system with Spotify on our iPad.

Life Jackets for Children: Children under 14 yrs old must wear a life jacket at all times while on board. We have four child sized lifejackets available, but we recommend bringing your own. If you have smaller children under 50lbs, you are required to provide your own life jacket.

Can I decorate for my private party?

Absolutley! We can make special arrangments on request however, we ask that the decorations be properly secured to avoid littering and for the sake of our beloved sea turtles, no baloons.

Is it difficult to pedal?

Not the least bit! We are able to raise and lower the paddle wheel in the water to increase or decrease the resistance. It's a lot like pedaling a bike on the road. If you get tired we have a motor, so you’re covered!

Where do we board?

We will board at the pier located at Owl's Creek Boat Launch, just South of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on General Booth Blvd. It will be your first right turn before the Aquarium if you are traveling South from the Oceanfront. Or your first left turn after the light at the Aquarium if you're traveling North.

There is limited parking at the boat launch so rideshare services are recoommended. Parking is available at the Virginia Aquarium for $5. Enter the main lot and park at the furthest end of the parking lot away from the Aquarium.

Our boat is not part of the Aquarium boat tours, we are located just yards away at the pier adjacent to the boat ramps. Our boat is also not permanently docked there, so if you don't see us and you're the first cruise of the day, the boat may not be there until 15 mins before your cruise time.

If you are local and have a private reservation, we can pick you up at your dock or at Rudee's by request depending on your reservation and dock accessability. Please reach out to us if you're interested in being picked up at an alternate location.

How long is the cruise?

We plan for 1 Hour and 45 Minutes, but they may run 2 hours.

Do you make any stops?

We do not make any stops for public cruises. For Private cruises, and depending on dock availabilty we can stop at Rudee's Restaurant and Cabana Bar, which is also walking distance from Rockafeller's and Big Sam's.

How many passengers can fit onboard?

Our Cycleboat can fit up to 20 passengers. There are 10 pedal stations located at the bar. Non-pedalers, or those who would like a break, can enjoy our cushioned lounge area in the front of the boat. Or if you brought your sea legs, there is plenty of room to stand up and walk around.

Does the boat have a Captain?

The best! The Cycleboat is operated by a United States Coast Guard Licensed Master Captain who may also be accompanied by a First Mate!

Are children allowed?

Yes, as long as minors are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 25. You must be 21+ to consume alcohol on board.

Our pedal stations have an adjustable seat, but anyone under 54" in height will have trouble reaching the pedals at the lowest seat height adjustment.

Most children will not be able to pedal.

Children Under 14: Children under 14 must wear a life jacket at all times while on board. We have four child sized lifejackets available, but we recommend bringing your own. If you have smaller children under 50lbs. you need to provide your own life jacket.

Children on Public Cruises: We reccomend 18+ only for public cruises because we mix parties to fill the boat. We will make exceptions and can adjust child pricing as long as we have enough paying adults to meet the minimum. Please email or call us to book with children on a public cruise.

How many seats need to be filled to go on a cruise?

The minimum price point for public cruises is 8 seats. Your party of 2 or 4 will be fine, as public cruises will be paired with other parties to fill empty seats. If we cannot fill at least 8 guests for the cruise, we may refund, reschedule, or ask if you would like to pay the remaining balance to fulfill the cruise. Public cruises with less than the minimum number of reservations, may be bumped for a private booking. We currently only have one boat to accomodate everyone. If you want to guarantee your public cruise time, please purchase 8 seats regardless of your party size.

Is there a bathroom onboard?

Yes!

Can I bring fishing poles?

No, sorry we don't have a commercial fishing license to allow fishing from our boat. We are strictly a pleasure cruise.

Can I swim from the boat?

Sorry, No. Swimming and alcohol is never a good idea. Our boat also does not have a ladder or any means to easily get you back onboard. If you purposefully jump from our boat, your cruise will immediately return to the dock without any refund and you may be subject to a fine.

Can we extend our cruise time?

Yes, we can add up to another hour as long as there isn't another booked cruise following. Please talk to your crew at the beginning of your cruise if you would like to extend your cruise time. Pricing and availabily varies, and we may not always be able to accomodate an extension.

Do I need to bring my ID?

YES! If you are consuming alcoholic beverages you must be able to present a valid ID and be 21+.
